Barry has been a member of the Williamson County Rescue Squad since 2006 and is currently assigned to Station 21 in Hillsboro/Leipers Fork.  Barry has been in the fire service for a total of 12 years and is currently Employed with Nissan.  He enjoys traveling and says "I have a bit of wanderlust and am somewhat of a globetrotter. Locally, I like to wreak havoc in Leipers Fork on my 125cc Scooter!" Barry also likes to spend his time "fixing/breaking" things at home and is a frequent visitor of the Home Depot as a result. Barry is licensed as an EMT-IV and currently holds the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, Driver/Operator, HAZMAT OPS/DECON, Flammable Liquid Firefighting, Low Angle Rescue.  Barry has also attended numerous classes including the following  NFA Classes: Public Education Leadership, HAZ MAT Incident Command, C&C Incident Management.  He also holds a B.A. in Economics & Business.

Barry's Auto-Bio:  "I will be forever grateful that three volunteer firefighters, including a Paramedic and an EMT, came to my eight year old daughter’s rescue when we lived in Illinois. They cared enough to respond. They cared enough to be professionally trained. And they likely saved my daughter’s life. Since that potentially tragic day, it has been my privilege to serve as an ‘unpaid professional’ Firefighter / EMT in Illinois, California, and now with the WCRS. There will always be new things to learn, but my continuing education and experience have allowed me to work in many capacities at incidents ranging from wild land fires to ice storms. I’ve had opportunity to be an advocate for the volunteer fire service on local and federal initiatives, and when I see my fellow Squad members daily showing their dedication and service, I know it is a good work and I am proud to be part of it."

Barry's Favorite Aspect of the Fire Service:  "The camaraderie and teamwork are great. And we have some real characters at 21 which makes it hilarious at times!"

Fire Service Awards Received:

Service Appreciation Award Sugar Grove Fire Department
